Recently, I have been suffering from a wardrobe-overload. The problem is resulted from my impulse-purchased. I was once addicted to online shopping and couldn’t stop myself from buying new clothes, bags, shoes, etc (oh, women will never feel enough for what they already have). Now, I’m regretted with the bad habit and thought of clearing my wardrobe. There are few clothes which I haven’t even worn, and might not wear it forever. It’s such a waste to let the clothes remaining in my old-wardrobe. Thus, I have decided to let it go to new-owners.
I was planning of selling the items through a personal blogshop, yet I don’t have camera to take pictures of the clothes. My current handphone does only have the basic features, which is to send or receive calls and messages. I have no other plan until one of my friends offered to try for his boyfriend’s services. She claimed her boyfriend as a part time photographer and showed-off a few pictures of her boyfriend’s artworks. I was attracted by his skill, and considering that his service’s charge is still under my budget, I had thought of giving him a try.
We had a simple photoshoot with my girl friend as the model. However, I was surprised upon receiving the pictures because the outcomes are not as what as I’m expected. The pictures are beautiful, but the way he took the pictures doesn’t seem like a professional photographer. I would say that, it’s actually resulted by the great DSLR. He only took half of the dresses, instead of full pictures. Besides, he had done too much editing on the pictures, which might discourage people from buying the items because it doesn’t look real. I was quite disappointed by his services, yet I still uploaded the pictures into my personal blogshop. But later on, I was facing difficulties to entertain inquires from the interested buyers because they were requesting for more pictures which do cover the whole dresses.
If I really know that the thing would happen, I did rather ask for my sister’s help. She does own a camera. It’s not a DSLR, but just an ordinary camera. After all, it’s not about how clear is the picture, but how’s the picture being taken that matters. One thing that had come across my mind is; how could someone claims his/her self as a photographer, offers their services to the public, and charges some amount on them? Is it as easy as by owning a DSLR, or u would really need the skill in photography (question mark).

Blogging through a self-hosting is a totally wonderful (!) It’s like u are having a small kingdom in the online world, where there is no one who can restrict u from doing what u love to do, because it’s ur own-space and u are acted as the king. Oh, I’m still excited with my recent purchased :) So, when Afizzat requested to know about my self-experienced dealing with the hosting company, I’m here to share the story. This entry is also dedicated to those who are planning to switch to self-hosted blog, yet doesn’t know where to get one, or how to get started.
1st thing 1st, if u have been wanting to blog under (dot)com, rather than (dot)blogspot(dot)com, u may probably have know that u will need to splurge some money on it. u can either go for a hosting, or buy a domain to remove the word, ‘blogspot’. By purchasing a domain, other things will just remain as it is. u will still blog using the same blog engine, be it blogspot or wordpress, and keep on staying in ur comfort zone. The only thing that will be changed is the blog url. On the other hand, if u choose to go for a hosting, almost everything will be different. There are a lot of new features that u might haven’t come across, under the blog-hosting. I believe, u will find that a self-hosting is much more exciting because u will get full control over ur blog. u can even observe ur visitors’ progress! Doesn’t that sound great?

There are various hosting companies available for u to subscribe for a hosting (such as; Fivio, NetKL, Hostso, etc). Yet, I have decided to opt for NetKL because of certain reasons. I found the website as user-friendly and easy to browse, and the products are just perfect for those who are under-budget. I send few tickets to them and came out with a lot of questions before I’m confirmed to place my order. and to my surprised, their services are very fast and friendly! One of the things that had managed to catch my attention is, all inquires are being replied in both; Malay & English, which is convenient for me when I’m facing difficulties to understand some english-terms.

Once I’m settled with my order and preceded with the payment, I have been provided with a cPanel account, an ID, and a password. There, I was surprised by a lot of unfamiliar terms, such as; FTP accounts, DNS zone, MySQL® Databases, etc. I have never come across such terms and don’t have any knowledge about the purpose. Thus, I requested for NetKL help, and the customer services department had guided me throughout the process of setting up a blog. I have been asked to go to Softaculous, choose the WordPress as the blog-engine, and install it to my computer. After all, the process is actually not as hard as I thought it is. At least with the help of NetKL customer services. Alhamdulillah, I’m so much satisfied for choosing NetKL as my platform :)

“Mahkota Parade is undergoing a major refurbishment which started from July 2009 and will end by April 2010. To mark the completion of the refurbishment, the Centre is relaunching with a Charity Fashion Fun Walk for Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina. This one-of-a-kind event combines fashion with charity, where participants can make a statement with their fashion sense in order to raise awareness and bring hope to needy kidney patients.
Fun and fashion are the main themes of the walk. Therefore, participants MUST be fashionably dressed. Ladies must come in full costume jewellery and trendy wear; heels are optional. Men must wear colourful and fashionable clothing. Kids must come in colourful and trendy clothing. However, traditional attire is also welcomed. This event is open to the public. For more information, please visit here“.
OMG. Seriously, this is so cool (!) I’m super excited upon reading about the charity event. I wish to be a part of it by entering the Fashion Fun Walk. An event which combines the fashion with charity, I believe it must be fun :) The entry fees are range from RM25 to RM300 (depending on the categories) and all will be donated to: Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina. Besides, there are cash prizes to be won for each category. Doesn’t that sounds yummy?
Just when I’m confirmed to register for the event, I was dissapointed by my-exam-schedule. The event will be held on the 1st May, which is about few days before the coming final exam (the 1st paper will be on the 4th May). Ok, there is no point for me to step out of my room before the exams end.
